IMPORTANT - BUILDING
AFTER-SALES PROFITS into your eBook
This is probably one of the most important lessons on eBook
creation. So, if you want your eBook to continue generating income
for you, long after you sold it, then I need you to really
understand this.
EBooks have the ability to become your ongoing sales force; selling
for you long after the initial sale was made. Not by reselling the
eBook itself, but by selling additional products and services from
within the book.
You need to build this into the eBook either as you’re creating it
or after you’ve written it. It must be done before you convert it
into its final file format, whether that is an .exe format or a PDF
format.
Here’s how you do it: As you are writing or reading over your eBook
– whether you actually wrote, it’s a public domain product, or you
had it written for you – you may notice that certain products or
services come to mind that you know would benefit the person
reading your eBook.
If you are confident in these products or services and are
convinced they would help your reader, then you would be doing them
a serious injustice if you didn’t at least recommend these products
and services to them.
We already talked about affiliate links and profiting from your
recommendations. It only makes good business sense that if everyone
wins – your reader because they got a valuable product or service
that benefits them, you because you earned a 50% commission on the
sale, and the originator of the product or service because they
also made a sale – then that’s good for business.
It’s important, just from a business standpoint to find out if the
product or service you are recommending has an affiliate program,
so that you can generate income from the link and make it work for
you.
If there’s no affiliate program, then you can do one of two things.
Find a similar product or service that does have an affiliate
program or just go ahead and link to the original product or
service. Links that point toward a product or service, but that
aren’t affiliate links, are commonly known as “naked”
links.
Throughout this information resource product, you have witnessed me
recommending other products and services to you, and providing
links to them. I call these my “get-in-through-the-back-door”
affiliate links. Remember, you are running a business and you
should never be ashamed of recommending something, knowing that
you’ll earn a commission if a sale is made.
Believe in what you recommend.
That being said...
A note of caution
: I don’t believe in just throwing in affiliate links that you
can’t back up because you don’t know the reputation of the company
or individual you are recommending or even the product for that
matter.
I am totally against recommending affiliate links just to make a
quick buck – a financial hit and run.
You need to establish trust with your reader – they need to know
that you are reputable, dependable, in this for the long haul, and
worthy of their trust. You need to have your reader’s best
interests at heart.
There’s nothing wrong with being in the health and wellness
industry, writing an eBook or report, or even an article, that
passes on some valuable information, then placing a link in the
text that points the reader to your site. On your site they will
have the opportunity to purchase some of your products or even sign
up for a
business
opportunity of their own. There, see how it works?
Building affiliate links into your eBook or information product can
be very profitable. Even just one sale from one eBook is one sale
you may never have had without the link.
VIRAL
eBooks:
Just in case my brain has gone south and I failed to mention this
before: Viral eBooks are another source of profitable income,
assuming you market the book well.
Simply put, a viral eBook is a book that you give away free and
allow others to either sell it for 100% profit – their profit – or
also give it away free as a bonus etc.
You may even allow them to re-brand the eBook, meaning that instead
of it saying that it was published by you, they can add their own
name to it. The condition being that they are not allowed to alter
the content of your eBook.
The eBook becomes viral because the next person to receive it can
re-brand it, adding a link back to their own website. Then they can
sell it and make money from it.
How do YOU benefit from it? Simple. We already discussed how to
make your eBook generate after-sales income for you. What you are
doing is promoting your products and services, or affiliate links
from within the eBook.
For example, you can write a short eBook on great audio techniques
and then promote an audio software program you wrote, or audio
recording equipment you sell regularly on your site or on
eBay.
Whatever you decide to do, always try to make your product work for
you even after it’s left your hands.
